Bio

I study the social organization of formal and informal educational settings such as schools, classrooms, and peer groups.  Mainly focused on adolescents in these contexts, my projects have examined topics ranging from school transitions, middle level grade span configuration, peer relations, and parental influences.  Despite the diversity of these topics, they share a focus on adolescents' social relations and the methodological techniques used to assess their association with educational outcomes.
